Here's some pics of the model so far. Just got the covers left to do.

One thing that I think could be a major problem is file format. I've got max9 and 1.5rc3, which means that anyone with max8 or below wont be able to open the file. Also, the matls are different from 1.47 to 1.5rc3 so that wont be much good either.

I've got a feeling it's going to be best to supply these in obj format with maps and let you guys mess around with materials. I'm guessing obj's keep all the mapping co-ords and material sets. I'll give it a test.

Forgot to give you the file sizes -

max9 = 744 kb
obj = 914 kb

boot top texture = 29kb
deck caulking texture = 14885 kb! mmmm.... will see if I can't reduce that a little.

Looking real good. You just need a sail cover and some lines running the deck.

As for formats, you can provide regular 3ds (oh well - you lose some materials), export to obj, and perhaps even to .fbx. All this is better than nothing. Most of the stuff on Turbo is scanline anyways.

I have a few models too. Here are some pics. The files are huge though, and done in Rhino.

hehe... yeah, I'd much rather be modelling these things in rhino too. But as you say, the models end up being mega huge even after a bit of polycrunching.

Your models look good though, get'em up on turbosquid, they'll be the best ones there.

jacksc02/jujubee - I'll give the FBX thing a go and see what happens. The obj didn't keep any mapping co-ords, although it could be because I didn't collapse the modifier tree.

OK, added a few extra bits that I'd forgotten about - think it's got as much detail as I want to add now.

Got the obj export to work better now, but the fbx wasn't as good and was twice as big. I think most apps support obj's so I'll stick to that.

Before I start asking people to part with their hard-earned cash I thought it'd be good to get some feedback on this model. I'm going to upload two versions to Six4One - a max9/vray1.5 version and an obj version.

The max file has vray matls and mesh-smooth already added.
With the obj version you'll have to do your own matls/mapping and apply the mesh-smooth also.
