Hehehe... thanks guys, the water was the easy part! Nothing special there, just a mixture of dreamscape sea surface with loads of different noises in the bump channel (mix map upon mix map).

I had a crit over on the modo forum that the boats looked like minature boats, so I've changed the materials scaled the sea down and moved the light around..... kind of looks better... not perfect, but oh well, back to some proper work now..

by the way, your modelling skill is wayyyyy beyond me man...great stuff you have there.. do you have tutorial on something similar like this? i would like to learn. frankly speaking i had a wrong start when i first knew 3d. lighting first, then material, then modelling. 8 years of wandering still donno how to create those beautiful boats

Thanks for your kind words! I'm still trying to get used to poly modelling. Mostly I use rhino for modelling but decided it was about time I learnt how to do sub-d's, so made it my mission to build these yachts completely with Modo. It's really easy to use and makes modelling fun - definately give it a try if you haven't already. There are plenty of good tutorials for it too.
