              hehe bulgaria wasn't part of europe until it joined the european union? I admit some ignorance living way across the pond.

                  It wasn't in three main ways, plus a few minor others:
                  1)borders: you needed a pssport to travel across countries, now frontiers go down entirely, much like between US states.
                  2)currency: major thing, as depending on how well the watchdogs will work, joining the Euro could be a definite benefit, or do like it did in Italy where prices soared by as much as 90% in the space of one year from introduction.
                  3)Regulations:while each union country is king within it's borders, there are some joint regulations and laws, debated at the European Parliament in Bruxelles, by elected government deputies.

                  All in all, it's a great opportunity for mutual growth, how it will pan out only time will tell

                    Percyman... think of the European Union like the United States... but it is a union of economy, instead of the union into one nation. Think of Bulgaria being Puerto Rico that just got made a state... Sorta.

                        Hi all !

                        The E U is not only an economic Union, it's a peacefull area where our
                        grand fathers made wars... they learnt to hate their neighboors and now
                        hopefully, we work together .

                          We're now over half a billion people under the same currency, but the cultural and historical differences are still there by and at large.
