With a 667 Mhz RAM you can get 3 Ghz for the CPU with a FSB/DRAM ratio at 1:1
333*9 = 2997 Mhz
I agree with Tog on this, it's where I've got mine with stock cooler, no problems whatsoever , as for temps it varies according to core (I don't know exactly why but suspect it has to do with proximity to voltage pins?!) so I would say 40-46 depending on the core, u cold use for instance core temp -> http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/ to monitorize em
Got 8 gigs of 667 mhz ram, since the guy who sold it to me thought it would be enough if I didnt oc to more than 3 ghz or so.
Ordered the cpu-cooler "Scythe Ninja Plus"... hope it will be enough to keep the temp down.
the mb is "ASUS P5K -E" (instead of the Asus p5k in my first post)... Good enough, or...?
changed the graphicsboard to a MSI GF8800GTS 640 mb... not a big difference in price for the extra memory, and more importantly, there was a 2 week deliverytime on the other one
I got to 3.6ghz with my Q6600 last night, bu its not 100% stable.. I would say about 95% haha.. yeah orthos got an unexpected result back duing its cpu test phase.. so just need to give a couple of tweaks in the bios and it should be all sorted
