lol lucas you have a very interesting view on this

Next year the hardware will be much faster why limit the settings to what is available today?

That's Crytek's official possition too. People on current hardware can just set the settings to what works for them, and in a year the game will still be relatively up-to-date graphically. It's only a problem for people who compulsively "has" to set everything to max.

Edit: Did someone ask for DX9/DX10 comparison pictures? http://webpages.charter.net/bliss/

        yeah lukx, interesting argument.
And really you have not rights to demand. You cant demand that having the latest hardware should play the latest games. thats kinda silly.
New hardware will always be trumped by some game at some point.

You should be demanding that Vista runs the same as XP... but well you know.. ya cant.
The only rights.. if you can call them that.. that you have is that the product that you bought runs as specified/advertised.. and it does. Crysis is just a "bigger" game.
        Just how things work mate.

And the 8800 has been out for awhile now anyway, by the time Crysis is properly out, the 8900's might be out and they should run it nicely.

        Percy:
I like to run native res on my monitor as much as possible.. so 2560x1600 is ideal, but is often unplayable in some games... read: crysis.. so 1920 works well enough
If i were playing it thru my HDTV i would be running it at 1920x1080 as well. mmmm might just have to try that..

        teabag:
Yeah noticed that it only worked on 2 cores, will be nice once its uses all of them. Good to see they will be updating things to make it run even better.

        Shimakaze:
Thanks for the comparision screens.. makes me wanna install vista now.. haha

Well imgoing to go back to playing it now.. One of the main reason i try to run at native res 2560x1600 is because the further away from that you get the worse it looks. 1920x1200 looks basically perfect and runs fine for me. Not once have i had a problem with the game lagging enough to effect gameplay in any way.

This game and the editor are a fantastic piece of work tho... the bar has been raised... ALOT

Yea tried it here earlier. Looks great but looses around 10fps. Also having some weird problems with the sound when using that hack. Like the sound slowing down and speeding up. Very weird.

              hmmm rather odd.

WIll try later.. although if i loose 10fps it wil be unplayabale again...might just have to rest to 1280x1024 for testing

it works here, and quite well as well.
It seems what's the most heavy-duty job is the textures.
Set everything to high (or extremely high) and textures to medium.
Mem usage drops to below 1gb, and the card is a LOT happier to oblige effects and the likes.
No issues with sound stuttering here, but i get a strange vertical pattern, much like the one in night vision, but vertical, on the screen. Barely noticeable, but there.
Also, not everything works as expected, the DoF is still not Z-buffered like in dx10.
Godrays do work, though, to great effect.

                      Hi All!

                      My very first post
After looking at the Dx9 / Dx 10 comparison shots (awesome btw) it looks a little similar to that cool magic bullet plugin with the 'basic look' preset. All the colours look nice and warm with the Dx10 shots.

                      Cheers,
                      Henry

Nice one Lele, I am able to set everything high when leaving the textures at medium, looks incredible in DX10. Very immersive, with all the foliage and real time shadows. So thats what those 1 GB cards are for, my poor gts with only 312 MB... :P

One thing that bothers me is the fov or something, everything seems too far away. I much prefer the perspective in COD. Perhaps this can be adjusted in the console

Has anyone got it running the 64bit version? Always freezes somewhere into the intro stuff for me.

In looking at the 9/10 comparison, the AO in 10 looks tons better, way more depth to the lighting.

Seems people are crying wolf in terms vista and dx10

Dx9 looks basically exactly the same when set to very high.

                            dx10 was always a con.

you don't even need vista for it, and opengl can address all the hardware functions anyway.

                            as for vista, its pointless.

When is DirectX 10.1 coming out. Service pack 1? Maybe 10.1 will show a marked difference from X 9 graphics.
