As above, I was aware that these points had been made. I thought we'd be talking a few percentage points though: not 50% or so!

It now makes me wonder about ForestPro. I had assumed that I should just use ForestPro on proxies of bushes 'for safety', but I need to try by letting ForestPro do the instancing and see how much quicker it is (if at all).
    Kind Regards,

Im interested to see what kind of results you managed to get with treestorm. Are they comparable to something like the animations featured in "The Third and Seventh" ?

Yes - If there is one tutorial I'd like to see it would be how to animate those trees with leaves like he did!

Not sure about the latest version, but Vue doesn't seems to work well when your time is limited... Quite unstable, you can read what we've discussed here:

I also find it's camera manipulation is weird... can't get it work like max.

Are you talking about using Vue to render or just create the trees. I have Vue 8 xtreme and render times are a nightmare. I only use it for simple timelapse skies.

Don't you just hate reading a thread that dies before it's resolved?!

If you are talking about animating trees still then I will be using growFX. Apparently its fairly good at doing it. It doesnt use dynamics as such but you can link movement to an object and then try and simulate a wind movement with that - I think thats how growFX animation works anyway.

Other than that there was the other plugin mentioned somewhere on this forum that animates plants, grass etc but I cant remember what its called.

                        Hi Steve,

Yep we're doing some research on the animated tree thing - surprised at how many half cooked threads there are on the subject.

All we want is a few proxies with gentle loopable wind baked in. We can't believe that there isn't a ready to render solution already out there.

                        We've found:

                        Xfrog
                        GrowFX
                        Onyx

and of course the illusive MDO

                        Anyone know of any others?

                        Cheers,
                        Olly
