          That guy is clueless.

He wrote this blog saying "there is no such thing as 'CS 4'" when in fact the previews presented at a press conference clearly showed CS4 listed in the headers. Then he goes on to run his mouth/rant about incorrect reporting when Nvidia stated they are supporting GPU support in the next release.

It seems like he is intentionally being left in the dark by his superiors over at Adobe. Perhaps he is simply a cleaning lady/janitor that happens to have a blog hosted there. This guy comes to mind:

You gotta read between the lines he didnt say he never heard of it. He said he never heard an adobe employee SAY it publicly :P

Actually, it appears he changed some of his original post and included the word 'publicly' after-the-fact.

p.s. - He changed a lot more than just that...

cs4? cs extreme? cs final? cx, cz?
                    Nomenclature and nitpicking.
Me I won't hold my breath (still using photoshop 7, myself).

neither will I, I guess. actually what really caught my attention reading through the first article posted, was the "ps supports multi core cpus" bit. which is quite funny. what about a 64 bit version then? and curves when working in 32 bit?

                        Exactly.
In typical Adobe fashion, they'll add a myriad of buttons and semi-obscure, half-done functions (like the 3d painting -LOL- in cs3), and forget entirely about the inner workings of an extremely old, and by now bloated, application.
"shifting loads of pixels fast is good!"
                        Well, hem, hello world?
I've always thought the adobe apps were the worst in each and every sector (video editing, compositing, photo editing, for both functionalities and interface paradigms) and I have always chosen alternatives (even when i was on demo shows for them, lol).
Of course, they're going to own the world soon, and I'll then edit this post to change its mood to one of love for the Adobe apps and corporate ethos.

didn't know that, thanks. must confess I tend to use ae over ps whenever I can, kind of fallen behind in following the next cs development.

Photoshop is one of the best. Gimp (and many other apps) are more or less a ripoff which has taken lessons from it's master.

When you compare Photoshop updates to 3dsmax, I think Photoshop has always had better justification in what they do (although I think CS2 was better than CS3 in several ways.)

CS2 from my understanding was pretty much a rewrite because of it's x64 support. I thought this was their best release to date.

But yes, you could go back to PS7, and it still works the nuts.
