  • Render elements

I'm just having a play with render elements for the first time and can understand what to do with elements such as lighting, global illumination, specular, reflection, refraction and shadows.

The ones I'm struggling to work out what to do with are..
    1) reflection filter
    2) refraction filter
    3) diffuse filter
    4) normals
    5) bump normals

I'm also struggling to get a zdepth element that isn't black. Is it related to dof or maybe environment range?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Regards,

    Rob.

    DOF pass

If your getting Black your environment range is too small, make sure your scale matches the far distance in your scene. We work in metres and do exteriors and I normally work between 500-2000 metres on average.

Thanks Mike, I'll have a play with the environment range and see what happens.

Glad to here it's working for you We love this pass..... We use it on every shot we do in After Effects using a Great Plugin called

          http://www.frischluft.com/lenscare/lenscare.php

We use it with AE 6.5 and I think it might be built into Photoshop.
          Cheers
