My impatience got the best of me, I now have the rest of the parts incoming by tomorrow.

I already have the case, PSU, cpu cooler, and HDD in hand, but I included them in the list below to show the total price of all components. I didn't really skimp anywhere except maybe a little for the video card, and I didn't jump for the 12GB of RAM right now as I expect the DDR3 RAM to drop in price considerably in the not too distant future.

Actaully just got it all put together last night. Hooked a monitor up to it this morning and installed Vista home premium. Running wonderfully so far, but I have yet to check performance temps, do a burn-in, or anything with the OC. Just installing updates right now.

The DFI MB had some small bolts sticking through the rear that were keeping the ports on back from lining up correctly. Drilled 2 holes in the MB tray on the case where the bolts were hitting and it solved the problem.

That was really the only snag in the entire process.

I acutually have it up and running right now. Plan to do some minor tests this afternoon, might do some Max related stuff Monday depending on how the OC goes. I will post some results next week.

Great, apart from the fact I didn't realise home premium vista comes without remote desktop! ... distaster... ! Does anyone know of any third party remote desktop type software that runs on vista?

Doing some stress and burn-in, I am getting idle temps at about 41 C and full load full heat saturation temps at 54 C. Looks like I have some good breathing room for the OC.

With the Antec P182 case I am using, under full load my lowest MB temp is at 40 C, but my VelociRaptor HDD is at a stable 29 C...and the fan pulling air over it is on the lowest setting

Going to do some more burn-in through the rest of the day, and probably tomorrow, then put the computer through a little bit of standard use Sunday, do the OC Sunday evening. I want this thing to be rock-solid.

I am considering another 120mm fan to force some air into the case, better safe than sorry.

Yep, me too! Thanks for posting the temps. I couldn't find much online about what temps to expect.
My cpu when idling is around 40 degrees too. One thing I've noticed is my NB is idling at 50degrees which seems quite high.
What are you using to monitor temps? I seem to get a 10deg difference depending on which app I use. (coretemp or realtemp).
