  • Render passes

I've been pulling my hair out trying to layer render passes in AE just to get them to look just like the original render (yes, I've seen the Nuke screenshot that someone posted, but I don't understand what's going on there).

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense for render passes to work with alpha channels where the percent of diffuse that shows through is transparent, so that blending modes are irrelevant?

Or maybe there's something I'm not considering here...

Normally you add the render elements together so there is no blending involved anywhere. In other cases (raw and filter channels) you multiply them, but it is a RGB multiplication, so again alpha is not useful.

    Best regards,

Maybe something in this post, http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ad.php?t=43653, will help sort out your problems (we get to after effects after the photoshop stuff).
      www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.
