reading your first post a few weeks ago and then the detail on your blog I wonder if they never had any intention of paying you - and its a scam they tried before so they get half a dozen scenes for nothing

Change Orders - To Use Them or Not to?

@Dellis - thanks man. I hope any of that helps others out. I just hope they don't try taking me to the cleaners for dropping their name...
The whole thing is dumb. It's a little more than $1,000 which is nothing (I really thought it was 2 days worth of easy work at first.) If they just paid, there would be no problem. No court. No credit issues. No complaints to the Better Business Bureau. And no filing to the state.
At the end of the day, is it really not worth paying someone?
I'd just stay clear of these people. I hope others don't make the same mistake with them. Their business deserves to get flushed down a toilet.
@Alan - screw that. If it's their change from now on it's billable. Either it would have been included from the beginning and now it's just afterwards. Much simpler this way and no hurt feelings.
@Glyph - well, I think they had intentions. They were good about it in the past. It's just that I don't think the owner has any clue how much work is involved (or doesn't want to) and is unwilling to negotiate. He's the type of guy that expects a person to 'jump' when he tells them to 'jump.' Not the type of person that wants to collaborate with an 'underling.' And plus he'd always say, "we'll have more work for you." I'm just going to ignore people that say that from now on as the price shouldn't change for something which may or may not happen. A lot of people like this are holding this "economy" card over our heads these days too. Tough fuc*ing luck - this is how much it costs. You either like it, or find someone that doesn't know what they're doing. We have to value our work.
However, you can't go around NOT paying someone for work you had them do even if you don't like the final results. Besides, if they didn't 'like' my image, then why did they post it on their website? They're just a bunch of slave-driving assholes - plain and simple.Last edited by jujubee; 13-02-2010, 11:00 AM.
