How to create a vac formed head from a plane

Conform could do the trick:
- Place a plane in front of the face (you'll need a lot of subdivisions to get good detail)
- Select the plane and crate a conform object (Crate/Compound/Conform)
- Pick the face as wrap-to object and better check "Hide Wrap-To Object"
Most likely you'll need some tweaking but should be a good start.

Thanks Codi this was the kind of thing I was looking for, I will give it a go.

you can do this very easily in zbrush,
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index....ect_Bas-Relief
import the head
select the plane tool, draw it in the canvas, go to edit mode, shortcut key, t
click on convert to 3d button (changes the plane from a parametric object to an edit poly) top of the tools menu
you have to do this so that you can append this plane later as a subtool, you cannot append the plane when it is a parametric object
select your head
draw on the canvas, go into edit mode
append the plane as a subtool,
place the plane in front
select the z project brush and paint the plane on the head
