I have a drive with all the libraries in there divided by application MAX, Sketchup, Autocad, Revit, Rhino, etc
I have another folder for Entourage 2D, Library 3D (divide by company, example: Evermotion, AXYZ design, ect) inside of each company by category) the models that I made them are inside my company name as well
for textures the same thing, Standard MAX2009, MAX2010, etc) by company and Custum (inside there is a folder per project that need a modified texture or custum made textures).
my Asset Drive has a Software folder where I have all the plug-ins and software needed.

    X drive for Projects(active)
    Y drive for Libraries
Z drive for administration (documents, contracts, invoices, etc)
    O outputs ( I clean it every 2 months)
Q archives (zipped folder after the project died)

project name is like that 11001,11002( first two numbers is the year)
inside each project folder i have:

3ds (temp folder where I export geometry to be used in max from Sketchup & Rhino)
    CAD (Autocad ,Revit)
    SU (Sketchup)
    IMG (Final images, Indesign file)
    RED(Redlines )
    RH(rhino)
    MAX
OUT(when I send something preliminary to the client)

the reason why I use short names(8 characters or less) is because It will be easier to recover them and proccess the info if the Hard drive fails.
