Same lag. A simple geometry (400.000 poly). It was a IGES geometry imported in Max.

    DOWNLOAD

And I've the same lukx problem here. 1 second lag/refresh in the Command Panel every time I select any geometry.. Also in the Material Editor. This year it was a very difficult work in Max! Really...

      Here my big problem

      http://vimeo.com/36413897

Both LAG and Slow command Panel UI and very SLOOOOOW (1.5 FPS) in Sub-object mode ((((
Also I've some slowdowns in the MEdit. Sometimes I must close-open 3ds max and this help a bit the UI feedback!

After installing the new CUDA driver, here are my results:

        1. Most of the lags with 3dsmax dialogs decreased.
        2. I had the main and strong lag with VFB from time to time (after installing the new driver). This was very strong that sometimes it was impossible to switch back to VFB window and I had to save the scene and reset many times.
        3. To take care of this problem, I switched back and forth with aero themes of windows- With aero on, I had slightly better results but no cure.
        4. Then I decided to try the Advanced System Settings/Performance.
( I used to have this "adjust best performance" before windows 7 aero and after that I was using custom settings where almost all of the sweet appearance animations are disabled.)
So I reversed this and choose "let windows choose" where almost all of the fun animations are enabled to kill performance.
But my VFB lag and most of other lags are gone! Strange but true.

Of course this is the report for a half day period of yesterday afternoon.
I will be reporting what happens today during my workflow.

          I also did this:

, Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall .net framework 4 and .net framework 4 client profile. If there is anything else .net related, try to remove it too.

          2, Restart your PC

          3, Install this http://www.microsoft.com/download/en....aspx?id=27537

and it also speed things up a bit.

yeah... it´s the same with every program i guess. as architects we use archicad frequently and switch between both max and it, i think that kills both the archicad UI and the one of max a bit. and we have quite fast core i7´s with 16gb ram and 2gb nvidia cards, so that should be no problem.

what although could be the problem is that we use two monitors... i think it even kills max a bit if i have lets say itunes and skype opened on the second monitor and in front of that some dialog boxes of max like the render settings, material editor and so on. damn... my feeling is that even if i minimize the other programs max seems to run better, so to say that there are no windows/programs stacked above each other. but that could be highly subjective, i can´t really measure that.

it´s a shame, the fine thing with new computers and enough ram is that you can run many programs simultanously and now we are forced to quit and restart them all the time because the programs don´t run smooth next to each other? even if they, like in the case of autocad, come from the same company? but i suspect many of my problems are because of the dual view and may be a problem of the graphics cards and their drivers....

            cheers,

            christoph.
