  • Autodesk sell Suite version only. No single 3ds Max.

I didn't know that so far.
I've heard it today from my reseller that Autodesk does not sell it's single package version anymore.
They just sell Suite package for new user.

ja man when they 1st brought this out, I was mad as hell. Just bought my new max at the time, a month later for about 5% more, I could get Mudbox AND Motionbuilder included. Of course my reseller was like: "Sorry we don't know these things ahead of time, Autodesk just anounced the suites yesterday"
    Kind Regards,

Where did everyone see this? I just got a quote to upgrade my 2009 to a current subcription - Max only, no suite. It also looks like you can buy 2012 by itself directly from the website, at least in the US.
          www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

I've heard it from my reseller today. He said that Autodesk policy has changed, so they sell only Suite version(maybe 2013?) for a new seat. But subscription renewal is no problem for current user. So I did it.
I don't know it's different with other countries or worldwide.
And If it's true, it's not good for Archi-viz people who doesn't use MotionBuiler or Mudbox. And subscription fee for Suite is somewhat expensive than 3dsMax as I know.

I checked with my reseller and they told me max standalone is still available. However, other suppliers here have been pushing heavily towards the suites. They say "it's the way Autodesk is moving towards" but certainly did not say that Autodesk dont have standalone anymore. Maybe you misunderstood? Maybe check with another reseller in your country?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's wait for the various 2013 releases to come out, then see if there are any new license policies

Agreed. I don't know whether it's settled policy or just reseller insistence.
But anyway, whenever renew my subscription, I have bad feel. Do you know why?

Our reseller has been hinting that changes are afoot, but no more than that.

We have just agreed to upgrade our licenses of Max2009 to Max2012 and jump back on the subscription package. The idea is that we might upgrade to a suite in the next 12 months if we feel we need to.

I'm not sure how the subject of this thread might affect us, if at all.
                    Kind Regards,

Well I'm geussing 2013 should come out 1st or 2nd week in April, like it was for the past 3 years or so...
Can you hold of on the 2012 purchase till then or you want to get 2012 now since it will be little cheaper than skip too many versions?
Although, It should theoretically work out the same to go from 2009 to 2012 and then 2013, than it would to go directly from 2009 to 2013 dont you think?
                      Kind Regards,

Autodesk is a bloody minefield. We had our reseller advising us to upgrade to one of the Building suites. Have you seen the overlap of packages in some of these suites??? Revit this, that and the other, Autocad this, that and the other!
                        Kind Regards,

my reseller was also pushing to upgrade to the suite a few months back...now I see why. I decided to just renew the subscription.

edit: oh and she mentioned the 3dsmax subscription was going to increase by close to 50 (USD)

50 USD ? Not bad. In my case, my subscription renewal fee is increased about 100 USD.( with current exchange rate)
