    Yes, it's exactly the same.

      Heya

I just spend few hours with friend hes network administrator so he does this stuff.

We open and port forward the port 30304 to my pc via router and so on. But once he try to get license from his pc he get -200 error. If I set my own license server to look at my external IP I get -198 error.

Neither of us cant get it to work. We are on home network. What is the IP address u want me to put in that server config, also what do I usee the username/password for?

      Thanks, bye.

Good, you're almost there. Error -198 means that the connection to the license server was ok, the respective license was found successfully, but all licenses are currently used on other machines. Are you running a backburner rendering, or an interactive one on the cloud?

I almost got it to work, but i can't create a network drive that the virtual machines share.
I am sure that it's a network security thing but i don't know what else to do.
I even turned off the firewalls.
The instances are all in the same "zone" and i could get a manager to server connection.
But that won't help if the slaves can't load the textures or save the images to a shared drive.
Has anyone been able to create a shared drive?
          Reflect, repent and reboot.

            wow, this was super difficult.
In the end i got it to work.
20 High CPU instances all saving to a mapped drive.
but i don't know if it will be cheaper then Rebus.

yes, so far i wasn't able to find out what they are going to charge me.
i bought some cheap slots with a low max setting and they all got terminated since this morning.
Must be a holiday thing, yesterday it was fine.
If you buy regular instances they can't be terminated by some richer guy,
but they are also much more expensive.

i tried ec2 already and it is more expensive than a dedicated "cloud"/renderfarm like rebus p.e inmy tests, at least yet. it migth be in future ec2 and similar services (azure etc) will drop the prices a bit to get closer. but who knows. i use rebus for now and droped the ec2 idea, at leats for now.

I got my bill from amazon.
I don't know how much my first experiments and errors added to it,
but it came to about 1 dollar per frame.
                      resolution was 720P, rendertime about 50min on a I7 920 per Frame.

I rendered the rest of the anim with Rebus.
                      Reflect, repent and reboot.

It is more expensive, where its nice in a way is once you have your files in the cloud, like say your hdri that you always use, you can save alot of time sending new files up. It is more pricey, and they need to have a high powered cpu machine, with at least 16gb or ram, as I used a m_large I think had 64gb or ram but was running at $1.3 an hour. the high cpu instance costs $.600 but only has 8gb or ram.

As great as cloud is.... nothing beats a stack of machines next to you!

With instances u have to track server and follow marked... there are usually 3 areas where u can pick all of which has different prices and variations... u need to observ how they behave and pick cheapest ones...

Solved all working great and its epic
