Yeah, check out this work-in-progress Unity-version of ancient Greek farmhouse that I've had in my life forever: http://geoffkornfeld.com/VariUnity/. Every single shingle is a separate element. It is possible to get on the roof and walk around.
I didn't realize you can use a mesh. I'm trying, but it's scattering my mesh into some strange cloud shape.
RTFM !
Read the batzal manual what are the rules of creating custom shingle meshes. It need to be 1x1 size and if it's smaller you will create gaps like i did. Remember to change object to mesh (poly won't work)
here's my file, just edit the small custom shin I made with what you need. shin.zip
Okay. I read the manual, but it's not working for me. How are you picking your custom mesh? I see yours, and it is what I'm looking for, but I can't reproduce it.
RTFM !

I still dont understand why you just don't use the free roof script with custom displacement. You make just ONE tile with 2 overlapping from the sides, thats it
RTFM !
