    they are adamant about getting the clipped corners, which you can't do with tiles. I did try to put my own texture into the tile color, but it applies the texture to the whole plane, and not each tile.

      why can't you just use an opacity map for the clipped corners? Or the water level in displacement? the script creates an "underfelt" under your tiles which you can just make black and at the very bottom of the roof just pull it in a bit so that the bottom row tiles shows nothing underneath the clipped edges. Further up it wont matter since you will have the black underneath - the "shadow"

        Yes. That was my plan, but when I use my own texture map, in the tile color, it maps one large texture across the whole roof.

          thats odd, from what I recall it works same as when you use a tile map type in that it gives you and option for random colour variation. Can't you just use something procedural for 1 tile and use the option to randomise colour across the various shingles?
          I don't have it in front of me right now, but I'm sure it must work. Just carefully check the settings in the digitalx texture maps.
