you have your usual desktop, but without a start menu. The search bar pulls out when you hover over the right of your screen.Bobby Parker

I just upgrade my OS to Windows8.
Most programs have no problem so far.
But Composite 2013 is not available for me. It doesn't launched. By the way, MatchMover 2013 works.
Anyone tried it?
And booting speed is just joke.
Of course some people have reported that, but I can't distinguish because I'm using SSD and it's so fast to boot.
About UI of Win8
I think it's somewhat stupid. I don't understand why I have to use two Interface for similar work.:: twitter :: Portfolio :: My 3D Products :: ...and ::

I don't see the need for both, but I am liking the metro side of things. Win 8 is built on a new kernel (realtime RT) so, it might be better for more than just the ui. I think the intent was to have the same user experience across all devices. Windows 8, the Surface, and Windows 8 phone.Bobby Parker

1. "New" Windows - just because it's a new version
2. "Cheap" Windows - cheap upgrade price than ever before. of course it's until 31 Jan
3. Nice Metro interface design - design is good. but it's not good for desktop usage IMO.
4. Good benchmark - of course it need more observation, but some guys saying it's a slightly light and speedy than 7.
5. etc...
I think Windows 8 is not so good and matured OS, but MS sell it very cheaply and that went over big.:: twitter :: Portfolio :: My 3D Products :: ...and ::

Currently it's somewhat inconvenient, but you'll be accustomed.
I think if you can upgrade at promotion prices ($16?), it's a good choice.
If you can upgrade at about $40, not bad choice. (me)
But if you wanna upgrade after 31 Jan 2013, I think you'd better wait for the next version.
Of course, you have much time till 31 Jan.
Just wait and see more reviews by other users before upgrade.Last edited by sandykoufax; 08-11-2012, 03:28 AM.:: twitter :: Portfolio :: My 3D Products :: ...and ::

well not long ago I spoke to some one who worked on windows 7 development. From what I gather, the core of all windows is really similar, to me windows 7 is a really good system, and remember how we used to be on windows xp for many many years before upgrading, I just don't see the need to upgrade to 8. With that said though, its good for microsoft to push this new version since it operates with their app store and ties in with surface tablet. But I personally thing its just a marketing strategy nothing more.Dmitry Vinnik

I upgraded my laptop, and everything so for is good. I also put a 90 trial on another laptop, which was running Vista, to see if it helped. Like the first laptop, so far, so good.Bobby Parker
