    Any news please ?
Did you sucess to port VRay ?
If yes, do you have some render time test ? It is good ? Wrong ?

I have a lot of questions because some studios are interested by this.

OMG....i totally missed a lot of cool stuff going on in this forum lately!!! Not only this topic...is it still Linux only? If yes I would be glad, cause atm we are missing all the cool embree stuff that is going on on windows since we are a linux based production...that would then finally be some good linux news

vlado: can we order phi cards already? just kidding

keep up the great work guys....we are also having an eye on arnold, but i still think chaos is absolutely able to keep up with SA in terms of cool features...supporting PHI would be an outstanding one for the moment!

      cheers

I think that they have a Windows version now, or at least they are planning to. There's still nothing that I can show yet, but I hope that we'll get there soon.

Embree should be available for Linux soon, but only for Maya 2013 and up.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

I went over reviews and it looks like 1 xeon PHI 5100 series is 2-3x faster than 2x8 core xeon E5-26xx

So here is the first image from the Xeon Phi, rendered by Teodor. It's still too early to make any performance conclusions though.

                Best regards,

Im going to be sarcastic and speculate that this render was single threaded

Hehe no, but it was not full speed either.

Just a little question...i think that wasn't clearly answered before: Are we limited to the RAM that the PHI brings with it, or can it use all available system memory?

You are limited to the RAM on the card. Currently 6 GB are usable out of 8 GB (2 GB are reserved for the Xeon Phi OS). However, the card can access files on the main HDD, so things like tiled EXR files, .vrmesh files and so on should work fine thus reducing the memory requirements compared to a GPU.

                              Best regards,

Im wondering how in present state phi is better then geforce card strictly for rendering argument?
