          Woah!
          Did you download Rio.....?
Did you look at the examples.....?
          Did you get it.........?
          .....You will!
& $1200 is a bargin for the full blown Artist version, if Discreet had their stuff together they'd have put Brazil into Max instead of MentalRay.........What were they thinking!

I found a very neat trick for rio So after this I guess there will be some update soon I guess...

So if you use region rendering.. (scriptspot) then u can render any sized image with rio... Actually I was playing with vray and regionrendering, but there was some starnge black spot on the side, so I checked out that it is maybe the script, (switched to rio) And figured, I can render any sized image with rio, but the region shouldnt exceed the maximum renderable resolution comes with rio.
            Anyway, its GOOD

losbellos the trick is old but yes it works.
just like it worked with the old public brazil beta.

i love to have something like the great brazil materials in vray.

egz is doing a nice job but having real glas, wax, velvet, carpaint shader is very usefull and saves a lot of time.

brazil has pre-made materials and cebas offers such shaders for fR.

vray is a great renderer but the materials are no competition to brazils.

i hope peter and vlado put not only afford in the unlimited geometry engine but also in a better vray material. there are many people here who are waiting for a opacity slot or fake highlights for month...

definatly agree with you Long john.
if there is one thing where vray is lacking in compare to the other renders is shaders!!.....stronger/ more developend vray material....and pre-made shaders like the FR and Brazil ones would REALLY be nice!!

I think even one of vray member could solve this, everyone write down what material would be good. An then one or more guy just do it.
Like you do the highlight stuff, you do the curtains, etc. even if just one of us making one material... there will be immadiately a lot, aviable.
                    Just an idea

making a specific material is not the same like having a special velvet shader or a special WAX shader.

i don´t like to see the same material in every picture.

but having special shaders, that offer special options for the task, like brazils wax or skin shader are a great help for your workflow.

when using brazils glass or chrome material i only have to tweak 2 settings a bit and it looks great.

and when i need the full power i can use the advanced material and tweak every bit.

it´s no question that you can make great looking materials with V-Ray (the image gallery is the proof) but imagine what V-Ray could do with materials like the ones from brazil!

i think brazil has a good image quality and very nice shaders.

but i think the GI is to slow.
my eyes popped out when i first rendered a interior scene with vray.
the speed was so amazing, since then i never touched brazil for interior scenes.
