I was looking for an app, for my Windows Surface 2, for remote desktop. Logmein doesn't have one, and Chrome Desktop doesn't work. I did find Teamviewer, but $750, really? Am I missing something, or is that really what people are paying for it. I know there is a free version, but it's like running Logmein with very few colors.

In teamviewer there is a control panel on top of the window where you have options where you can set it for either best performance or best quality or a combination.
    Kind Regards,

got it, thanks. The quality was so poor (but fast), that I couldn't read anything. Do you use the free flavor, or are you paying the large price tag?

Logmein can run through a web browser, have you tried that?

          My thoughts exactly.
Isn't this how we usually use LogMeIn? I have the android app installed on my phone, but it is hardly what I'd call usefull.

it's painfully slow through the Surface 2's web browser. The Surface is optimized for apps. Teamviewer was super fast!

I would guess the RT version since my Surface 2 Pro has RDP already included.

Well if we are indeed talking about the RT version, then I hope you learned your lesson
After the first batch of surfaces, I would have thought nobody would even touch those things with a 10 foot pole.
The regular x86 surfaces are supposedly OK AFAIK.

Out of the ones I have tested TeamViewer has been the best.

The Surface 2 is awesome! Solid, fast, and I have found everything I need in the Store. I thought about the Pro, but I remote in, so it made no sense.I had the Dell XPS, and I have had it for months, but never installed anything on it. My chromebook worked, but the resolution wasn't good enough for a 2nd monitor.

So far I have only used the free version. I try not to use except when I need to quickly access something using my phone. You are right, it is steep in price, which is why I have only used the free version.

Yah, it doesn't make sense for a single user who want to check on his/her rendering. Surface 2 has a built in VPN, and they have a Remote Desktop App, but I have to open a port. Once I do this, I'll be set.

RDP from Microsoft is the best option.

I learned a lesson with my Surface RT...that all tablets should be equipped with at least one full, powered USB port and a good assortment of drivers to support most accessories that would be plugged in. It also doesn't seem to hurt to have an easily accessible file system as well.

Most tablets today are consumption devices, and Windows RT has it's fair share of consumption apps available and it is still a very young platform. Although with Intel's new line of Bay Trial chips, it makes me think Microsoft should put an end to Windows RT soon. Today you can get a full Windows PC with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD and plenty powerful integrated graphics in a package smaller than an iPad and priced around $250-$300 US. I think Intel has just flipped the tablet market on it's head.
