Ps: I am very glad this forum is not segregated like that. Once in a while one gets a few unwelcome postings, but the benefit far surpasses that i think.
Btw. Did you notice the activity on their public forum skyrocketed (comparatively) after they released RIO. But they still don't have the type of activity this forum has.
I also have NEVER been given any indication that the fishies were anything but completely professional and very generous. Ive never met them in person, but I was into brazil well before it was called brazil.

I will once again agree with you percyman. I would aslo say that I have seen nothing but professional respect between the two companies. I would even say that some of the user wats can be slighting embaracing to either one of them. In terms of taking on challenges. I woudl say that Vlod SHOULD be taking them on. It is job to make the best possible rendering engine. My job is to be the best possible artist. Taking ona speed challange would be a complet waste of my time. As long as I meet my deadlines, and my work looks good, I'm happy.
I agree w/ cpnichols about the need to partecipate in a speed challege.....the focus (at least from an artist's point of view) should be on how to improve as an artist with the tools provided and chanel those tools into everyday production if possible.
if one wants to find out speed and other comparison issues one should just test the software on his/her own w/ the same scene/s throughout the testing phase and try to learn the different tools in the process.....I think that's the easiest, less bias way to get an objective result...rather then relying on speed challeges, since that often depends on the skill and knowledge level of a particular user.
as for the brazil guys/developers....I fully agree with percy. Throughout my usage of brazil, whether testing in order to find a render solution for the company I work for, or as a personal user, I found their support and responses very professional and helpful.

thats why i asked the experts there to show me how to get the same speed (better speed) with brazil. but you can see the replys i got.
its fine when 3x times longer rendertimes don´t effect you.
but im sure im not the only one who think different about this point.
a simple "use these brazil settings" would be enough.
First, let me say that I have been a member of the VRay forum for quite some time, but am not actually a VRay user. I began testing VRay and Brazil some time ago, and eventually chose Brazil for my company's production work for various reasons. I have continued to visit the VRay forum to keep an eye on the development of things that stopped me from choosing it in the first place, and am very impressed with the spirit and professionalism of the VRay community. In fact, VRay may yet become another tool in our rendering lineup.
Now, Janus: I have followed, participated in, and contemplated your posts on the Brazil forum, and I can't quite figure out what else you are trying to pursue. Many have agreed that the manner in which you posed your "challenge" was open to interpretation, and could have been construed as somewhat inflammatory. You received some results from several users (including myself) that should have lead you to this conclusion: VRay's irradiance map method of GI calculation is faster than Brazil's current GI methods at acheiving the same level of quality. End of story. Nobody is denying this, and it is probably the worst kept secret in all of the GI rendering community. If this is stopping you from completing work on time, then do what the rest of us do: switch to the software that works better for you. With all due respect, you're beating a dead horse here.
As for challenges, as others have said, they can be pretty pointless, especially in scenes like the cloister which a) had some modeling issues, and b) tested only a single aspect of the software. Imagine if I came to the VRay forum and challenged everyone to render out shadow, 2nd bounce reflection and specular passes of a particular scene faster than Brazil. Of course, it wouldn't happen, because it's a known limitation of the current VRay release, and a known strength of Brazil. If I then complained that VRay couldn't do it and demanded users to show me how, well...
The Brazil community has proven itself to be a fantastic help to me in the year or so that I have been a Brazil user. It's unfortunate that this situation may have fanned the flames of some peoples' impression of that community, as I have found it to be most professional and friendly. It's true that the registered user forum is somwhat different than the public forum, but as a paying customer of software that is fairly expensive, that's how I like it: personal attention to problems that get resolved quickly. So, maybe we can call a truce, move on from this discussion and get back to learning more about our respective rendering packages and helping our communities grow as well as VRay's has.
it was a simple question to show me that brazil can render this scene in an equal amount of time.
the people on the spluterfish forum especially zeboxx and ihavenofish made such a big noise because of the little word CHALLENGE.
i ask for nothing more then showing me that brazil CAN do it because i had no succcess.
what you guys write about "choosing the tool you like" or "all renderer have there pro´s and con´s" has nothing to do with my question. i simply asked for showing me how to setup a specific scene with brazil.
you get the answer to your question several times here and on the SF forum, basically it's :
WE DON'T CARE
you don't even have respect for people to read what they answered to YOU. you still ask continuously the same boring question, which already got an answer here AND on the SF forum : no, brazil will probably not be able to render this scene with this quality in the same time.. is that so difficult to understand ?

yeah troll is the good word ...
if i come down to your primitiv personal level, if you don´t mind, then moron would be the right word for you.
yes, i got a few answers but only AFTER i made clear what stupid answers i got before. maybe YOU should keep the chronologie in mind.
and please iwan, speak only for you, as other people wrote that they can understand my motives to ask.
Hey hey people, can't we get along? We know that V-Ray is the fastest and Brazil is the most polished, but let's not forget it is the fR guys we don't like :P
