I am getting some feedback. I'll wait for more replies and Friday I'll some things up (revealing no names) and share the number I gave. And, maybe, also share the number we settled on.

My suspicions were correct. Our industry is the Wild Wild West. I got numbers, for four exterior views, from as low as $800 and as high as $4000; apparently all for the same end deliverable. However, the quality of the end deliverable would probably vary greatly. My quote was a rough $3360. I based my numbers on an average single exterior image from $1,200 - $2,000, which is for a medium to small project. This, however, is not a medium to small project, so I moved up the scale. They want 4 views, so I think that my number is very conservative. I haven't heard back from the client yet, other then the initial reaction to my quote. I see being on this project for at least 3 weeks and a ton of hours. I have plenty of work, so the money isn't a deal breaker. I see this as an awesome portfolio piece, too.

i am a fulltime freelancer since 2007. Till date i have never done any research to find out the market rate for arch viz, Also i have never done any marketing for my work. I have very limited clients ( both local & overseas) & that too i got through word of mouth. Just wondering if i am charging too less or is it average? I dont want to be a spoiler as far as visualization fee is concerned... I feel i am more of a creative guy thn a businessman.. cant do hard bargain when it comes to terms & condition, rates etc while putting quotes..

What I have found out is, find out what your closest studio would pay their artist (what ever level artist you would fall under) per hour and double that. So, if your closest studio pays their artist $30 and hour, you should charge $60. You need insurance, retirement unemployment... If a job would take you 30 hours than it'll cost $1800.

How on earth do you find out what they pay their artists, I don't think they'll give up that information. I would suggest asking for a quote from their studio instead.

With this calculation, i guess i will landup quoting almost same as a studio fee. In that case i doubt i will get work since i am just a freelancer with no much overheads like a studio setup. & like Colin said, it is not easy to get the salary figure from any studio. I sent an email yest to a studio for quote. They asked my contact number in return to discuss the work . I feel there is no fixed formula for quoting a project... studios & freelancers can quote any thing depending on the client & their current work schedule.. But again.. i am not a pro businessman so i really donno..
