  • Max/Maya question - subdivide based on distance

    Heya

So I want to subdivide mesh based on its distance from another mesh. Dont have to be animation just static. Is there a way to do it? I was thinking distanceTex map + vol select + MS but I would think it would be insane slow for large scene I got now. Any other alternatives?

How much do you want to subdivide it by? An expression or parameter wiring fed into the turbosmooth?

A lot to be honest. I want to bake vertex GI and other maps. For that I need quite dense mesh around each intersection between meshes.

Hmm - might only be genome that'd get you this or as you say a gradually reducing selection and subdivides inside the edit poly modifier - there's no way in max to drive subdivision by map that I'm aware of :/
