  • 3dsMax squeezing part of an object

    Hi,

Ayone knows a quick way to deform the attached object so it looks like it is being compressed? It is a bed spring, only the selected faces should compress, while keeping all vertices attached to the non selected faces.

I tried various ways with squeeze modifier, ffd modifier etc... But I never manage to deform the springs/U shape without deforming the top and/or bottom faces, or without messing up the attachment of the selected faces to the rest of the object.

It shouldn't be a physically accurate compressing, but it should look e bit decent

Any tips or suggestions more than welcome!

    Thanks,

    Wouter

maybe try a spiral stair case without the stairs and animate the height?

I would recreate the object with a spline and a sweep, and rig the spline.

create/dynamic objects/spring. Attach to binding objects. move binding objects. Exactly what you´re looking for.
