I am getting really poor shadow on my AXYZ people. I sent them a support ticket, however I really don't think I'll get a prompt reply (I might be wrong). Does anybody have any ideas how to avoid this and what's causing it?

if it has bump/normal maps on it, try turning them down. you could also try putting a turbosmooth on them, but that tends to make em look a bit wierd.

Normal map 100, so I turned it down to 30; I'll let you know.

Is the normal bitmap loading with the correct gamma (I think it should be 1, not 2.2 if you're using LWF)

that wont fix it, it'll just make everything to do with it less visible. leave it on 100 and actually solve the problem.

I did check the gamma and it was wrong, but it didn't correct the issue. I'll post a screen shot when I get back to the office.

I turned the bump off and it solved the issue. I'll post a screenshot of the material setup when the render is done.

it could well be some funky gamma problem, but it also looks like an issue i had when a bump map was turned up waay too high.. it was causing the normals of the geometry to become so distorted they were showing light from the other side of the object. or something. i dont remember exactly.. it was years ago.

It is, but in kind of a weird way.

                              Bobby,
You have a max "normal bump" map nested inside a Vraynormal bump map.
