  • Customising populate clothing

Anyone know if it is possible and how to customise the clothing that Populate uses in 3dsmax2016? We want to try making custom clothes, but finding the texture maps seem to be 'hard-coded' somehow into Populate.

It would be really handy to be able to create a custom set of textures, for example, with a particular school uniform.
    Kind Regards,

The textures are generated on the fly at creation time and typically it will get stored in new folder inside your temp folder (don't ask me who's clever idea this was).
In populate there is an option to save the current created textures or not (otherwise it will create a new random set everytime you open the max file)

What you can do is take one of the "high-res" textures and paint your school uniform over it in PS and save that. Then in max pick the material of any of the people and replace the texture with the new one you painted. While you're at it you can make it a VRay material instead of the standard material. You'll have to do that for at least 3 or 4 or more textures, otherwise everyone will look the "same" (isnt that the point of a uniform hehehe?)

    Good Luck!

Thanks Morne - I will take a look at that. I think the other chaps have done something similar. It is annoying that there isn't some proper way of doing this.
