The new SP3-friendly version of SolidRocks is finally out, and so far my test have been pretty astounding. I have a scene that with the default VRay settings is taking 14 minutes and is very noisy, but with SR on "Very Good" mode, there is hardly any noise at all, and it only takes 6½ minutes!

I have the beta, but I was finding that I had to set things to there max to get something clean and by that time, the render times were higher that the new V-Ray defaults. Do you remember what SR preset you used?

I just put it on Very Good mode and didn't touch anything else. That's it. Though my scene consists of just one complex, but mostly white, medical instrument floating in space (at 4k). I haven't tested it on an environment yet.

Oh, and on Production mode it took 10½ minutes, and that was only slightly better than Very Good mode.

I have used SolidRocks for, must be 7 years now and it transformed my workflow !

Actually, it seems my testing was very flawed. I might not be getting better results after all. I will test some more. My apologies.

I have mine authorized and I'm getting the same speed as V-Ray defaults, but much noisier. If I get same noise level as V-Ray defaults the render times are double.

The deveolper, Jérôme, is awesome, however, it's days might be numbered. I haven't been able to use it in a long while becasue I couldn't get clean renders at SolidRock's highest settings. One job a few months ago SR helped out, but most of the times I got a lot of noise or high render times. Let us now how it goes for you.

Vray 3.3's variance sampling surely makes any and all tweaking null, all the work I invested into sampling is useless now anyway.
1-50, adjust clr threshold, game over.
