    "Pricing and availability
3ds Max 2017 is available now for Windows 7 and above on a rental-only basis. Subscription prices are up by around 17% from the time of the release of 3ds Max 2016, to $225/month or $1,785/year."

    Another joke from AD....
    (Sorry for my bad english)

So, it costs $1000 more to rent monthly than to rent yearly? That is insane! I think we are getting the rug pulled out from under us. It's also insane to buy the software over again every year, which is what's happening. MAX 2017 looks okay and is a must for 4K screens, however, I would stay on 2014 with a standard screen, if I had a choice. The problem is, I no longer have a choice. Buy everyone one up, kill them off, and hold software as ransom. Tell you what, there are some very happy investors that love the gravy train.

It was $185 just yesterday. Tell you what, someone gets the one month free and $185 after that and then gets told it has gone up to $225, is going to freak (That, to me, is bait and switch!). They can raise the monthly cost at any time, and what, we just say thank you? Don't worry about overseas hackers ransoming your files, here in the states, you can do it legally.

Isn't that because it comes with advanced support? Can't you say NO in that section?

In the UK and EU site, it says NO by default

We dont have a local online AD store so I'm FORCED to use a reseller, and they seem to be confused about the 70% trade in deal.
                Kind Regards,
                Morne

Ill have to check, but I don't think so. Their cut/pate chat thread said that they reserve the right to adjust prices.

My understanding is resellers can't do leasing and if Autodesk only leases, then the resellers are out in the cold. I have an email into my reseller, but I have not heard back yet.

Okay, went straight to AD website and followed a few links. $185 without support and $225 with support. It is $750 more to lease per month. Leasing anually is $1470, again without support.

So I heard. What prevents you guys from just purchasing through the web using some kind of VPN?
