  • Forest Pro Broken

    I posted this on the ItooSoft forum, but it usually takes them a day to reply. I have a scene that has Forest Pro objects, however, they will not render. No error or warning. I deleted and rebuilt, but nothing. I opened a blank scene and all worked fine. I have come across this before, but building the FP again solved it. This time, no such luck. Deadline is looming, so I need a fix right away.

    I've had the situation where a surface I was putting plants on had the normals flipped. FP would not work (as you would expect) until the surface faces where pointing skyward. Would this be the case with your scene? Are you using surfaces or spline areas? Or both?

      It seems to be an issue with your cameras.
      I have almost narrowed it down....

        It wouldn't be the normals because I have rendered this scene out successfully a dozen times.

          Well, that is interesting. How can the cameras effect FP?

            Yes I can confirm it is the cameras.
            If you change the physical cameras to be standard max cameras Forestpack renders.
            Seems like a bug in forestpack....

              Ok if you create a VRayphysicalcamera Forestpack works.
              Use this maxscript - vrayCreateVRayPhysicalCamera()

                I just replaced the cameras with the last known working ones. If that doesn't work, I'll replace them with V-Ray cameras. I'll have to look; can you just change them or do I add new ones? Thanks a ton for the help. I literally wasted all day on this.

                  Cameras have a huge impact on Forestpack whether it is LOD (Level of detail) to clipping Forest objects to reduce memory.

                        Script worked perfect. I was confused; I didn't see a V-Ray camera that I could use. And yes, Forest now works! Again, thank you!

                          Apparently, it is a known issue in the beta and motion blur.
