  • Quicktime VR question

    Hello,

I have a client that would like to have more of an interactive experience with an interior scene. They would like to stand in the center of the space and view around. I remember using QTVR years ago. Is anyone using this method or is there something better?

    Thanks......Scott

QTVR died along time ago... Quicktime itself is on its last leg, and can't die soon enough. Apple stopped developing it for Windows and isn't even releasing patches to fix the security exploits that have turned up recently.

There are a handful of apps that utilize the browser and CSS 3d transformations to create a superior experience to what QTVR ever gave. Our preference is KRPano...

You can also drop this into a GearVR headset for a more immersive experience. If you want to go even further you can render it stereoscopic and drop it into the Gear headset for real wow factor.

Thanks Travis.......Awesome example. That's exactly what I am looking for. I have one question, how do you set up the camera and render all the pieces necessary for this type app? Also, this will not be a headset application but a web based app. I found this software http://www.easypano.com/virtual-tour-software.html The one thing I like about it, you can create hotspots and navigate the space.

              I only know KRPano.

As for setting up scene.... it has likely been covered on the board multiple times so I won't go into much detail. You need a camera that is level, set the resolution to 2x1 ratio, and change the camera to spherical with a FOV override of 360. Not much more complicated than that.

Build a simple scene.... Maybe a box with a grid on each side. Use that to test before diving into a complicated scene.
