Does anyone have any ideas how to model such thing ALL IN GEOMETRY, fast? Are there any trick to do without too much donkey polygon pushing pain?

I once saw a displacement map that did it; I'll look to see if it is something that I have.

Yeah but as I said it has to be pure geometry, no displacement

Maybe bit of railclone to create some wicker panels which you can then FFD around a bit?

Yeah i'm trying that but there are problems with matching intersections. Well I guess it's donkey work solution is the only way

Would recommend vray pattern. Does it all in geo at render time. The only fiddly bit is creating the weave sample - not sure if it supports GPU though... in so many ways it would be brilliant to actually have it as part of VRAY.

no go also, as it needs to be later on possible to render with different engines

that would be simple spline modeling but MCG simple weave and quad scatter look awesome!

I would use the China or Russia plugin. No sense in spending time modeling that if it can't be done in less than an hour.
