  • Any ideas for modelling this?

    Feel like there should be some procedural method to get some bits like this? Which i can then scatter with FPP?

    Anyone done something like this before?

        well thats almost a textbook classic l-system fractal.. iirc there is at least one script to produce them knocking around somewhere..

          Blur had a l system plugin.

            That L system mentioned sent to a few promising looking things.

            Ive just tried that blur plugin, but seems to just make a spiral? Or more likely I don't get how to use it properly

                what about AEC Extended foliage object from 3ds max?
                Euphorbia model looks similar. endless variations for free.

                  EDIT: although the control is rather limited and it cannot do anything like the density of some of the parts of the original example

                      if you need something more than look for Arbaro - free plant modeling tool. should still be around.

                          Guess you could use GrowFX. Even if you don't use it that much, it's totally worth the price. I'd also try making it with particles (and mesh them with splines).
