Just wondering is that me or it's like that for everyone. So I've found this unbelievably frustrating bug in 3dsmax 2017+: in perspective mode without object selected if you zoom with mouse wheel on the object - the speed of the zooming is, for example, x1, if you move the mouse out of object and zoom on blank space - it becomes like x20. Is there a setting or something responsible for that behavior? Or that is another bug, introduced by AD just to patch it later with another "improvement" "update"?

Again, I am not sure if that is a bug or some settings? Would be happy to know. Units are fine (inches) and the scene is built near 0.0.0 coordinates.Available for remote work.

I've tried this across 8 workstations here at the office, none of them show this behavior.
Possibly your mouse settings doing crazy things?

Originally posted by iancamarillo View PostI have this problem sometimes too. Check if you have objects way far away from the center. I've had to reduce my wheel zoom amount in the mouse tab of the customize user interface window. Also, using Alt+mouse wheel slows down the zoom and Shift+z to undo a zoomAvailable for remote work.

Have the same effect, but.. It's a feature! You can zoom to objects, which I quite like, as I hit the Z-key pretty often anyway.
Didn't find the setting but there should be something like "zoom to mouse cusrsor" or somthing. If that is off you always zoom to the view-center (which kind of sucks imho). I guess, that might maybe change the described behavior.Kind regards, Wolf S./K.

In [Performance] section of your 3ds max.ini
AdaptiveNavigation=0
UP: none of that helped... I use Razer Abyss 2014 and I don't have that accelerated scrolling option either in mouse settings or in razer settings center...

So I double checked with everyone again this morning and one person has something similar happen, but not quite the same. Most of the mice at the office are Logitech. Anyways, when the active app in windows is Chrome or Firefox, move the mouse over the max viewport to zoom with scroll can create a similar behavior. If you click anywhere outside of Max and the web browser, then click Max, then try to zoom, it all works fine.
Basically what is happening is that the mouse is using the scoll settings for the browser instead of standard scrolling used in Max. I don't really think that is your issue, but it did behave similarly as to your video. Weird!
As for our settings, again we are using mostly Logitech Performance MX mice. The mouse wheel is set to behave like a middle button. Then scrolling settings are set to 3 lines per click with adaptive scrolling or accelerated scrolling turned off. Depending on your mouse settings, you may also want to try turning off smooth scrolling if that is an option as well.
I have a Razer DeathAdder at home and it behaves as expected. So I'm kind of stumped why would be getting such strange behavior.
Short of uninstalling ALL mouse driver related software from Razer, and just using the default windows drivers for the mouse to see if maybe that is the problem? I know you can make custom mouse settings per application with the Logitech and Razer mice, maybe something get messed up in there?
