  • Unable to acquire vray for rhino GUI license!

    Hello,

I just purchased and downloaded vray 3.6 for rhino v6 on windows.

    I installed the license server.

I am logged in with the same username that was associated with the purchase.

I can see that the license is activated when I visit http://localhost:30304/#/. I did not purchase a dongle license and for some reason it shows that dongle license is activated when I visit http://localhost:30304/#/. When I disable the dongle, it says ‘no licenses available’.

How do I get my licensing to work?

We checked in our database and we can see thar the V-Ray 3.0 for RHino license tied to your username "oska_pakenham" expired on 2018-07-05. This means that only dongle based V-Ray 1.5 for Rhino license is available and can be activated and used.
Could you please provide us with more details of your purchase of V-Ray (order number or e-mail address which is tied to the order), so that we can find you in our database.
If you are not comfortable sharing this information here, please send us an e-mail to our support e-mail address with a link to this forum thread: support@chaosgroup.com

      Hi,

same problem here - I installed the latest official release for Rhino 6 and now my VfR2 at Rhino 5 could not obtain a license anymore. Also the webpage http://localhost:30304/#/ can't be opened and my Rhino6|VfR3.6 doesn't run anymore. What can I do?
(I can reinstall VfR2 and it works, but VfR3.6 is not usable.)

I found a solution - I installed an old VfR3 version based on license server 4.5.1 and anything was fine. Than I installed VfR3.6.4, but disabled the new license server installation. Now anything runs fine. Seems to be there is something wrong with the new license server of VfR3.6.4

          Hi Stefan,
I realised I wasn’t logged in with the correct username associated with the purchase.
Now I am logged in with comax_australia.
I’ve clicked on activate and entered host name.
Now its asking me to upload activation request file. How do I do this? When I navigate to download activation file it says ‘license server not yet activated’. What am I meant to do?

Micha, please have in midn that when installing the latest version of the V-Ray license server 5.1.2 it is always better to make a clean re-install by following the below instructions:
            1. Please uninstall V-Ray Online license server from your Start menu>Control Panel> Add remove programs
            2. Make sure to delete the folder C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\VRLService
            3. Go to the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup" and delete all files and folders except "vrlclient.xml", which is needed.
Please download and install the latest V-Ray Online license server 5.1.2 from our web site:
            https://download.chaosgroup.com/?product=48

After the installation is completed, please check if the V-Ray Online license server status page "localhost:30304" is available and you are able to click "Online licensing" > Enable and enter your credentials.

skar, if your machine is not using a proxy and you are able to click "Online licensing>Enable" and sign in with the username "comax_australia", you will have to be able to see your V-Ray 3.0 for Rhino license as available and there is no need to upload the above mentioned files from you. Anyway you can do the above mentioned to re-install the V-Ray license server and try to activate the Online licensing with the correct user. Let me know if this worked, if not, please send us a screenshot of the issue or send us an e-mail to "support@chaosgroup.com" in order schedule a Team Viewer session and help you further.

Now I found time to try it again and after a while I got it working. Also my VfR2 install is still working. Great, thank you for the steps above. Only the license server info doesn't work. Is it needed?

Try clearing the browser cache from the settings.

Thank you, it helped. Now I get all infos shown. (I used IExplorer instead Chrome now, so the cache wasn't used anymore.)
