  • problem rebuilding beauty with affect all channels in rafraction

Hi guys, i'm running into a problem rebuilding the beauty from render passes when the "affect all channels" in refraction is used, trasparent areas are very noisy when recombining the passes, any ideas?
i'm currently using maya 2018.3 with vray 3.6.04
    thank you

So it works when "affect all channels" isn't used? Do you need that enabled?

it works fine(relatively little noise) when "affect all channels" isn't used, though i need "cryptomatte" and "sss" passes ,which only work when that option is enabled (in trasparent areas), as far as i know....maybe it's my fault

Probably not, don't see why it shouldn't work because that's enabled, vray staff will probably have to weigh in.

Vray automatically calculates how many subdivisions you need for secondary bounces. Sounds like it’s not giving you enough subdivisions in the refraction. Make sure threshold is 0.01 and min shading rate is 6 as a starting point. Try increasing the min shading rate.

You can disable the automatic calculation and set the subdivisions and manually by and checking “use local subdivs” in the render settings, and then setting the subdivisions needed in your materials. You will then need to manually set the local subdivision for all materials and lights in your scene.

It may be possible to override a single material’s subdivisions using the Vray object properties node, but I’m not hundred percent sure of that
