I believe that this is normal. Procedural textures are generated by vray at render time and Rhino's Rendered display mode is only an approximation.www.marinevisuals.com

V-Ray procedural textures and more complex materials cannot be displayed natively in Rhino. Currently, only diffuse color, bitmap textures and some additional basic parameters are synchronized between V-Ray and Rhino.
The "Show in viewport" button in V-Ray enables a degree of viewport customization without affecting the render output (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...#Bitmap-Bitmap)Peter Chaushev

I tested the interactive mode for a simple cube and my impression is, the interaction is quite lag. So, I applied a checker pattern and it needs 15s to see a change. If the GI calculation is the problem, than maybe a flat rendered mode without GI and shadows could help.www.simulacrum.de ... visualization for designer and architects

I found now, if I don't use the Rhino viewport Vray display mode for the interactive output, the speed is great. The regular interactive frame buffer output is quite fast. So, it looks like the Rhino viewport connection needs to be optimized.Last edited by Micha; 17-11-2018, 02:16 AM.www.simulacrum.de ... visualization for designer and architects

I'm rendering architecture, that means that I have big scenes. I'll try this method Micha but I'm afraid that my scenes are badly optimized and it would be very annoying to run interactive render just to map texture. Maybe I can try isolate objects before to make it faster.
This "show in viewport" button is handy, I didn't notice that function. Thanks.

Hi,
A VPR (Viewport rendering) scaling function is being prepared to ensure the ability to preview even very heavy scenes without major slowdown. This will not eliminate the load time upon initiating the renderer. Another handy workflow is to isolate only the parts of the scene which you are interested in previewing either via the Rhino Visibility control or the project's layer structure.
