  • Question about V-Ray Fur

Hi, quick question. What is the unit of length and thickness in VRayFur? Chaos Group doc say "Calculated in the default SketchUp unit - inches." but in my test, it doesn't look like it's in inches. Am I wrong somewhere in this test? Here are some screenshots:

    Hi,

It is possible that the V-Ray Fur is rendered on the bottom of the plane. Could you please reverse the faces (Edit Mode > right-click > Reverse Faces) and see if the V-Ray Fur component is rendered correctly then?

Otherwise, the Length units are SketchUp's default (inches). Thickness parameter signifies radius in inches, as well.

Hi Georgi, thanks for the reply. I checked and the front face was up. I am aware of that vray fur only applies on the front face. But still the radius is not seems to be exactly 1 inch. I attach the file, so if you have time take a look at it yourself. BTW is it possible to have other units that are more common than inches? like centimeters? it is frustrating for metric unit users to work with imperial units. thanks for your time.
P.S: Sorry of possible grammatical mistakes, I'm still learning English

        Hi,

Thank you for providing the file!

Please be informed that everything rendered correctly as set up. The differences produced in the render output are due to the adjustment in the Variance rollout. You could set those to 0.

Regarding the different units, kindly note that SketchUp is hard-coded to inches.

Thanks Georgi. I will try value of 0 for Variance, it should work probably. About unit, so there is no way... I will continue convertinting them
