  • Where are the default HDRI's in VRAY for Rhino?

I have downloaded a number of environments, but shouldn't there be a number of standard ones; Indoor Studio, etc? What is the correct path to the folder that would contain those?

    Kindly,

    Hello,

V-Ray for Rhino ships with a single .exr image file which is by default loaded in a TexBitmap slotted in the Environment Background slot.
If you are using V-Ray Next, you can organize your own environment image collection in the V-Ray Library by following these steps:

    1. Create a new folder for your Environment map assets at a predefined location.

    2. Open the Asset Editor's left-side Library panel and then click on the bottom-left button to add the folder you just created.

    3. Create a Bitmap texture, slot one of your HDRIs within and set the Texture placement type to Environment Spherical.

    4. Rename the Bitmap texture to signify the image you have slotted, then drag and drop it in your new Library folder.

    5. Repeat the procedure for all your other HDRIs to populate them in your new Library folder.
Once done, you will be able to quickly load these map in any project by right-clicking on it and selecting "Add to Scene".

With all that said, we are considering expanding the default V-Ray library with assets other than materials. Any comments on what preset assets you would like to find in our library are more than welcome!

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Thanks so much; that explains why I couldn't find anything. I assume most users just use environments from sources like Food4Rhino then?
