  • edges of the displacement map are showing

    Hey,

The edges of the texture map for displacement are showing like faint lines.

I checked that the base surface was fully smooth, and it is. I also checked if the texture itself was fully tile-able by offsetting the image by half its size in Photoshop and checking if the faint lines on my render would also shift accordingly. They don't, so it must be related to the bounds of a single texture tile.

Any idea what the issue is?

Try making the default color parameter in color manipulation fully black or fully white on the displacement texture:

It has no effect unfortunately. :/

I'm using a mix (operator) texture to multiply two similar maps with different scaling for the displacement to create a non - repeating texture. Maybe that has something to do with it??

I tested with a normal displacement (single texture) and there's no issue. (however I get a repeating pattern in this case)

I did a test - I used a single color texture patch as displacement map. I set the planar mapping so that the size is smaller than my test surface. The surface is moved the by the displacement and no UV range edges are visible. I thought, if V-Ray should cause an error at the UV seams, than this should be visible for a complete grey or white texture too. But it works fine.

So, maybe the problem is the ocean texture map.Best post the map for further tests.
