  • Vray fog weird artifacts when on top of opacity map

Been having this issue where i get these black artifacts in the sky of my render.
This only happens when i have Vray fog on, and a cylinder with a treeline texture as background. Hiding the tree texture resolves the issue.
If i remove the opacity from my treeline material and put the alpha into the refraction slot AND turn off "affect refractions" in the fog settings, it also seems to work... But this is a hack i'd prefer not having to use.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this issue, for some reason i can't post in "3Ds max problems"

I have no solution, all I can say is I have the same problem.

Did you send a portion of the scene that exhibits the issue to support yet?

I did not, no. Is that how I'm supposed to proceed?

Now that I'm here, I'd want to give attention to another issue. This one I haven't fixed yet tho.
I found these "imprints" from where my buckets were during render time on most of my images. Especially in the dark areas.
I'm currently trying to re-create the problem before sending in my scene. But maybe some of you have had this issue before?

Guess I "Fixed" it by using the progressive image sampler. But I do really like my buckets... The only companion that soothes me in this state of solitude.
I'll keep checking and unchecking boxes until I find a fix

            It was the VrayEnvironmentFog again!
I guess it only makes sense that the things you love the most, ultimately hurt you in the end..
I'll check with my boss if it's ok to send in the scene.

              Yes, by all means.
support@chaosgroup.com is the email (you can add a link to refer to this thread.), and you can choose how to proceed for the scene: using your own upload method and pass them a link, or our FTP (in which case they'll provide you with the info you need.).
Note that we are under implicit NDA on all content sent to us from clients, and can sign more if required.

They'll be able to find out what's wrong, and either suggest a workaround, or provide you with the knowledge it's indeed a bug, and that it will be looked at.
EDIT: Also, there's no need to pass the whole thing: if you can isolate the issue, it's even better for both parties, as the data is less, and debugging is quicker.
