  • Gradual wall lighting

I am trying to get a cove light to cover more of the wall without blowing out the base. How can I achieve this?

I also don't want the ceiling to be lit (needs attenuation of some sort).

Here is with a curved wall. How do I attenuate the light, or make the 'glow' extend farther without blowing the wall out?

+1 here, have not found any workaround yet, added this as request to the new features and ideas thread New feature ideas 3 - Chaos Forums

If you're using Maya, you can use regular Maya lights instead of V-Ray lights, and choose different falloff calculations (Quadratic, cubic, Linear, None)

The other option might be to use multiple lights, placed differently up against the wall.

3DS Max. Yeah, regular max lights have attenuation that's easy to control, but I don't believe I can easily make them different shapes (I'll have to look again). Seems like it should be a basic feature.
