just upgraded my network to gigabit, got the money ready and im waiting for 1.5 to come out for my purchase

yes i realise that if i buy now i get all upgrades to 1.5 anyways, but i want 1.5 and all upgrades to whatever

actually if you buy 1.5 your stuck there then have to buy what comes after it. 1.5 is the end point on the liscence we bought. not the beginning point on another set of upgrades. so when you wait till 1.5 is out you will buy something that wont be upgrading anymore for free after that and whats more you will be jumping into using something your not familiar with with lots of options. i assume if you buy now then you get to learn vray starting now. then when 1.5 comes out with its new features it wouldnt take as long to get used to them.

thats a wierd way to do it. usually you buy a major version and you get from 1.5 to 1.999999* then 2.0 will cost more to 2.4999999*

or are they going to release 1.5 then start fresh on 2.0 ?

maybe 1.5 will be a pivot point. those who bought 1.0 get upgraded for free up till 1.5 and those who buy after the release of 1.5 will get upgraded till 2.0 but the 1.0 boys need to upgrade their liscence

Chaos has not made any kind of indication of the roadmap after 1.5, and have not said anything about pricing after 1.5. All they have said is that it you purchase Vray now ('now' being anything from 2+ years ago to today) that you will recieve all the updates through 1.5 for free.

Well, not to jinx it, but 1.5 was supposed to be released 14 months ago.... and it hasn't been yet. I wouldn't be suprised in the least if a 1.4X version is the most current in a few months.

Look at it this way, if you buy it now, you'll have more time to play with it and figure it out before your big project comes along. Even if 1.5 does come out before your project is finished, it would be the latest version, no way is anything later than that going to be available.
