  • how to use override and multiplier in bitmap options?

    hy all,
I have really trouble in tweaking hdr parameter.
I'm trying to do some rendering using only 1 hdr image as GI but I can't reach a good result.

could some of you help me to understand what the override and multiplier parameter do in the bitmap editor? (applied as GI map).

I saw the starter kit from micha that is very impressive and he uses 1 as override and 4 as multiplier.
With the same bitmap parameter and different image I get only a very dark rendering and a very toned image. By changing to override 4 or 5 and multiplier 1 or 1.5 I get a bright and better image. Why?

    thanks

Are you talking about renders in the texture editor or actual scene renderings? There is a mess up with how the multipliers are used for GI maps in RC3 I believe. You might want to test your settings with actual scene renders. Sorry about this inconveniance

will be more help in the final release?
because this things is different from 3DMax and I'm not sure to understand well the meanigs.

"Override" mean, you can change the gamma value of the map. Some HDRIs are very contrastful, so I like to set a gamma override 2.

The multiplier control the intensity of the HDRI.

If you like to change the intensity of every other texures than the env textures, than you must set the material color black befor. The multiplier is blend option.
If I'm right informed, than this could be changed for the final release and the multiplier is a multiplier only (not a blend anymore).

Yeah we've changed it to just be a straight up multiplier now.
