    Hi!
I'm just new to everything and I was wondering if there is a tutorial for making wood material, since I could see really nice wood for vray for max3, but could not apply the tutorials to vray for rhino.
    Any suggestion?

      Hej
You can find a good material tutorial here.
It might give you the ability to create wood materials as well.

oh that's because it's on the general forum that for nwo you cannot access.
I don't remember how you do that...long time I've done that. Something to do with the link Usergroup on top of this page, than Subscribe...something like this I think. Or maybe this topic is just for registred users...I don't know. I will do a copy paste just for you

Here the message in the topic you can't access:

                      "Hi,
Can someone show a simple tutorial or best a .vismat with the texturefiles and 3dm surface of a wood floor rectangle surface with bump and reflection of a hdr.
And keep the original good color of the texture floor bitmap map when rendering with a hdr map. (this is normal )
                      Jp
I would like to achieve a good bump and color like this:

but for now I have something more like this (also little blurry in addition of a color :S because a bad environment ?):

for my scene I use this texture:

Also, set a bump map. You need a map with the stripes of the gaps and not so much the structure of the wood.

for the bump... no idea yet how to do it good

but I used a 0.02 and reduce the noise level in Pshop.
                      a few minutes left

                      bump 0.02 and settings.

                      the new bump map...

I don't really like the effect on the left side...better on the right side...
anyway it's just a test cube that would become a good tutorial for anyone playing with texture and RCM!

Thanks for this info! I'm just a 30 days test user right now
It's just a bit funny, since most links from User Tutorial points there, and "does not exist" wont let people guess they are for registerd V-Ray for Rhino users only
