    Hi all,

When i assign a texture i see to it RGB colors do not exceed 225,225,225 to obtain realistic output.
Also when assigning a texture i see to it that 'no filter' is checked and the override is set to 0,4545 just as in Rhino tutorial .

    Now here is my question:
Which 'gamma' options should be checked in the 'global settings':
    gamma=2.2?
    correct RGB= on?
    correct LDR= on? or off?

I ask this because my white walls tend to look gray, even when i use color/level correction in the framebuffer. Also, i can't get any photoreal output anymore.

    What is going on?

    thanks in advance.

In theory all you need to do is:

    1. enable Gamma Correction set to 2.2
    2. enable Correct RGB
    3. enable Correct LDR

Ignore the override .45454545 in the Rhino tutorial and do not worry about enabling the sRGB in the V-Ray frame buffer.

      Corey,Thanks for the quick reply.
Does the 'RGB value' rule of maximum 225 still apply or is this also compensated by default?

        Hi, Corey
Thanks for clearest answer (After I've red all these topics about LWF posted in the web Ifeel like a idiot).
P.S. Would you be so kind to explain how set it in max? (I know this is not the right forum, but...) Should I touch preferences--gamma ?
        Thanks in advance,
        Roman

          Re: linear workflow

In the Max Preferences dialog box (customize>preference settings), there should be a tab at the top that says Gamma and LUT. At the top left you want to enable Gamma/LUT Correction. On the Right under Materials and Colors you'll want to check both those boxes. And under Bitmap files you will want to change the input gamma to .4545 and the output gamma to 2.2.
I think that will do it, but you might also need to adjust the output gamma in the vray options (colormapping>gamma value 2.2). I haven't used max hardcore in a while, so I hope that helps.
