In both of the renders i used omni lights insde; in the first one i used linear decay, then i realized my mistake and used inverse decay... The problem is there is light on the both sides of the buildin but only the side i am looking from show lights leaving other side in dark int the second one...

One other thing is sometimes there is a curtain effect on the renders as can bee seen at the first render? Can i control it(i am using a usual curtain inside the building; does it cause that?)

    Thank you
    Onur Olguner

ps. the material problem presents itself in the second render again joe

Is the building modeled the same on both sides? You are positive there are unobstructed lights on both sides of the building?

its a perfect symetric model; i used same lights on both sides: but it doesnt show the lights on the left side on that angle...

Could you send me that file? I thought I had the lights working in components, but perhaps I'm mistaken...

I think it may have something to do with a material setting. Specifically where fresnel would be mapped. The reason why I am saying that is because of that "curtin affect" that you were wondering about. So if you could post the settings for that material, then that might help. Also check how those objects are modeled. If they use a refractive material, make sure that they are solid and also that all of the surface normals are facing outwards.

Re: night pictures with lights (help please)

first of all i am very sorry; the trouble with the light on the other side was a block inside the lader i closed while placing my light sources; so when i realized it i closed it has 2 lights on the both sides, sorry about the fuss joe; i really tought there was sometihng wrong... ( i will check twice when asking something next time)

About the "curtain effect" I used Door_Glass_3-2x7-0_Framed_Double#1 with no curtains(i just checked and there I found out that i didnt placed a curtain behind) with no linking to the vray whatsoever, i didnt linked it or aplied material. it actually appears when i use very bright lights (linear ones) is there any way I can do it without very bright light?

The one problem about having the curtain effect can bee seen on the second render. The wardrobe which we see from the window should not be seen because it is located on the wall on the right of the window. somehow we can see the wardrobe. I modified the global switches i was trying to have transparent glasses when i firsst installed vfs, are they somehowe responsible?

Re: night pictures with lights (help please)

Yea there were some wierd refractions happening with that glass (the wardrobe would be an indicator of that), so thats why I think it might be either the material or the model. The settings that I wanted you to post were for the actual material that you created and applied to the object. You posted the material part of the global switches, and although that wasn't what I originally was looking for, I did notice that your transparecy cut off level is a little high. I would suggest putting it back at .001

Back to the material itself, sometimes fresnel can produce some wierd affects that look quite similar to the "curtain effect" that your seeing in your renders. Usually this happens within the alpha channel, so I'm not sure why its affecting the overall appearance. If you'd like I can take a look at your scene. Just save it as a SU5 file. You can email it to me if its smaller than 15mb or upload it to asgvis.com/incoming. My email adress is dalomar@asgvis.com. Please include as many of the maps as you can.

Re: night pictures with lights (help please)

I will email it first thing i go back to my student home :P on monday cuz here in northern part of cyprus we only got a very slow dial-up connection which would take about two hours to upload (if no falling from the line occurs)

I didnt send any material settings cuz the material itself is pure ( ) sketchup component with only simple glass material(the material that comes with vfs beta 4) aplied to the window

Its possible that the glass material may need to be applied without being a wrapper for the sketchup material. Try that and see if it changes anything.

I used normal glass vismat while rendering the second picture; I just tried green_glass and it looked ok in 320x240 test render i took. I will renderthe final image and post it here...

The render was just perfect until it started to leave red dots on the parts it rendered (on the upper left windows)

It looks like thats in the middle of the LC pass, but I just wanted to confirm that. If thats the case than let the LC finish (you can use fewer samples if you want) and check the Vray log in the progress window. There is possibility that there are invalid LC samples. We've had this problem before, and I thought it would have been fixed in the newer vray core (it was in rhino which is vray core 1.49.73) If that pops up the thats obviously the issue, but other than that I'd have to take a look at things. You could also switch over to qmc for the secondary bounces as this seems to be an LC only thing.

Also try it without using adaptive for LC

Finally after so many trying i found out the reason of "curtain effect"

When aply the vismat glass file to a 2 dimensional plane it seems to create the "curtain effect" causing deformations to the vision coming from the other side of the glass. Instead i made the 2 dimensional glass into a 3d box and made it a group; then i applied material: result is a good home-made glass :P

I will render a big resolution image now

ps for dalomar; i will start studying the specifications of the animation that you sent me today and hopefully start rendering the animation afternoon
