  • Glass Rendering

    Hi
I've been modelling in rhino for years and now need to do some photo realistic renders of super high quality, but my rendering skills are good but not good enough to create the type of image I need.

I've got a engraved glass model which needs to be rendered and wondered if anyone could help me out and point me in the right direction.

I'm new to this forum sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

If you would like to see the file I can show it if needed.

    thanks

    Luke

Hey sorry for the lateness of the reply was working at the weekend, its just a simple champagne glass but i cant get it to look good, but the reason being is that i just use GI for the reflections.

            Re: Glass Rendering

In some cases it depends in what type of texture you are using, if the texture its low quality it would be blurry to the camera.

                    Re: Glass Rendering

                    Hi Dave
The file is a Rhino file.

Lukeorford, there are different types of noise. Noise produced by the anti-aliasing, lights, etc. In this case the noise looks like big stain, so are Irradiance Map splotshiness. You can increase the HSph Subdivs. Other thing that can produce that king of stain is the HDRI. Try to use a blurry version on the GI Color.
Other point is that V-Ray throw less sampler in a dark image, so try to improve the illumination.

                    Here is my test

                      Re: Glass Rendering

                      ok that looks alot better!

Did you just have a light set up on that test and no HDRI?

Ive never really used lights as i said my knowledge is limited to certain things in Vray

                        Re: Glass Rendering

I use two rectangular light. One in the left side of the camera and one in the back right side of the glass. I can give you the scene, because I'm testing the new build of rhino and the scene is not compatible with old V-Ray. In order that you can see the scene I have to redo he scene from scratch. I'm so sorry, but I have no time today to redo the scene. If you want I can do that tomorrow.
                        No HDRI.

                        best
