  • V-Ray 1.5 creating fog or haze scene

What's the process, if any, in order to produce a fog or haze effect in a scene. Basically I'm trying to emulate this background haze shown here, and I have no idea how to approach it.

I haven't really found any tutorials online, and the ones that do are either for 3ds max with clouds, or tutorials which aren't what refer to the image above.

    Thanks in advance...

Also, I don't know if it's possible or not, but by looking at the pic do you guys think the lights done in the scene is is being produced through HDRI, dome light, rectangular light, sun, or something else ?

You can use the z-depth channel output and some little postwork to get. Should be no problem at 1.05.29 and the new version.

I second Micha_cg's suggestion to use z-depth channel output to do the fog effect. Here are two tutorials that might help, although neither seem to be great:

As for the lighting, I'm no expert but it looks like either rectangular or HDRI lighting. I'd bet a simple studio lighting setup, rectangular lights or HDRI, would work well for this type of image.

The more I study this image the more I'm thinking it's completely done through Photoshop. I had to look at the forgeground compared to the background and there seems to be no transition between the 2, which leads me to believe it's done through post processing. I guess that sort of explains the difficulty I had trying to find a tutorial on this thing. Anyways, I guess that solves my problem, but if anyone wants to chime in, you're more than welcome to, thanks....
